BEATRICE – Thanks to a mini scavenger hunt, kids at the Beatrice YMCA now know that they will be having a brand new splash park very soon.
The YMCA has been approved for the splash park through a $25,000 grant from the Exmark Big Rock Project.
They hid a rock with the Exmark logo on it, and once found, the kids all found out.
“What I love about the splash park is that it will be available to anyone in the community. It also will be available to anyone of where they are income-based financially. It’s free. That’s one thing I know Exmark is really proud of with their Big Rock Project, it’s a community giving thing, and that’s what the Y is all about. It’s about giving back to the community and providing opportunity for our kids,” said CEO Alison Leonard.
The Beatrice community may be enjoying some fun in the sun in a new splash park sooner than they might think.
“We are hoping to get a good month or two in, so the kids will be able to enjoy it yet this summer. Of course, everything has to fall completely into place. As soon as the announcement was made a couple of days ago, things really started rolling. There’s enough people that are excited about the project, so they’re going to get it done as quickly as they possibly can,” declared Leonard.
One thing that the YMCA is very proud of is that all the water used at the splash park will be recycled. They will look to use the recycled water in the community garden, as well as some projects around town.
