Wymore Rural Water System Has Line Failure

BEATRICE – Rural water service has encountered a problem in the Wymore area.  Lower Big Blue Natural Resources District Manager Dave Clabaugh says the district’s rural water system has sustained a major line failure.

Clabaugh says at the current time the NRD cannot get water to a water tower, located southeast of Wymore.  A main line between the system’s pump house and the tower was not working.  No word on the exact cause, but Clabaugh says a officials were trying to confirm the source of the problem.

Clabaugh said early today, it appeared to be a possible washout of a line near the Big Blue River, which has been running at an elevated level.  He’s hoping that’s not the case.  The pump for the system is located near “G” Street, at the edge of Wymore.

The problem was reported Saturday night. Repairs were expected to take several days.

There are over 200 customers getting water from the Wymore Rural Water project, completed about five years ago.  The $3.2 million project was designed to distribute water from the City of Wymore to rural residents who were relying on individual wells.
