Wymore Police Arrest Male, For Sexual Assault of a Child

BEATRICE – Wymore Police have arrested a 33-year-old male suspected in the sexual assault of a child.

Interim Wymore Police Chief Mark Meints says Brenton DeGunia was arrested after a search warrant was obtained and served by Wymore Police and the Nebraska State Patrol, at around six p.m. Thursday.  DeGunia was at the residence and was arrested without incident.  He’s in custody at the Gage County Jail, suspected of first-degree sexual assault of a child. Police also seized evidence at the scene.

Meints says his department was contacted Wednesday by Southeast Communications, and responded to Beatrice Community Hospital.  A mother had brought her eleven-year-old daughter to the emergency room, reporting that her daughter had been sexually assaulted.

Meints says the mother of the girl told officers she had been made aware that her daughter had been sexually assaulted by a male over the past several years.  The most recent incident allegedly took place at a Wymore home, Wednesday.

Police began investigating and Meints says the child was interviewed at the Child Advocacy Center, in Lincoln.  That’s when authorities obtained the search warrant and made the arrest.
