WILBER, NE – A junior at Wilber-Clatonia High School suffered a serious head injury after he was involved in a sledding incident on Saturday.
The Superintendent for Wilber-Clatonia Public Schools, Ray Collins, told several media outlets Monday that Tyler Hooper was injured in a sledding accident over the weekend.
Collins said that according to Hooper’s family, the junior had surgery on Sunday and responded favorably.
The full extent of the injuries is unknown, but Collins said “long-term recovery” is likely.
According to a spokesperson at Bryan Health, Hooper is in critical condition at the Bryan Trauma Center.
A crisis team has been activated at Wilber-Clatonia Public Schools, Collins added.
“Our thoughts and support continue to be on the well being of Tyler and his family and the Wilber-Clatonia students and staff,” he said.
Hooper is a member of the Wilber-Clatonia football and wrestling team.
