FAIRBURY – Due to the replacement of the bridge crossing the Union Pacific Railroad, Highway 136, heading west out of Fairbury will be closed for an extended period of time.
On the morning of March 27th, the road will be closed down. The target date for completion is November 30th.
It appears it will be just west of Maple Street, according to Jefferson County Sheriff Nels Sorensen.
The construction will also close the River Road to everyone except local traffic. There is a designated detour that will be put into place.
Sorensen encourages all drivers to use caution during the process.
