Weekend Fire Damages Westin Packaged Meats Facility

FAIRBURY – A fire damaged parts of the Westin Packaged Meats production facility in Fairbury on Saturday.

The company says in a release that the fire broke out during the afternoon in the mezzanine area of the facility’s cooking room. No one was injured by the blaze.

Westin has produced bacon bits and other bacon products in Fairbury since 1969. Production has been temporarily halted until clean up can be completed.

The company expressed appreciation for the Fairbury Fire Department and other departments that assisted. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
