Wasserman Drives In Four As Fairbury Sr. Legion Baseball Team Wins Over York, Juniors Win Too

FAIRBURY – Adam Wasserman would not be denied at the plate when runners were on base on Friday, driving in four on two hits to lead Fairbury Sr. Legion Baseball Team past York Cornerstone Seniors 17-9 on Friday. Wasserman drove in runs on a home run in the second and a home run in the fourth.

York Cornerstone Seniors scored six runs in the second inning, but Fairbury Sr. Legion Baseball Team still managed to pull out the victory. Tyler Cast, Bradyn Heiss, Wyatt Cast, and Jordan Grooms all drove in runs in the frame.

Fairbury Sr. Legion Baseball Team opened up an early lead in the first inning when Dawson DeBoer grounded out, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the second inning, Fairbury Sr. Legion Baseball Team tied things up at seven when David Jinright’s wild pitch allowed one run to score for Fairbury Sr. Legion Baseball Team.

Fairbury Sr. Legion Baseball Team took the lead for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third Zach Holes singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run and Cayman DeBoer homered on a 1-2 count, scoring three runs.

Fairbury Sr. Legion Baseball Team notched six runs in the fourth inning. The offensive firepower by Fairbury Sr. Legion Baseball Team was led by Devin Wanamaker, Wasserman, DeBoer, and Carson York, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Holes was the winning pitcher for Fairbury Sr. Legion Baseball Team. He surrendered two runs on two hits over one inning, striking out one and walking one.

Heiss took the loss for York Cornerstone Seniors. He allowed seven hits and ten runs over two innings, striking out one.

Keyten Pfingsten started the game for Fairbury Sr. Legion Baseball Team. He allowed six hits and seven runs over four innings, striking out four Jinright started the game for York Cornerstone Seniors. He lasted two innings, allowing six hits and seven runs while striking out two and walking one Fairbury Sr. Legion Baseball Team socked three home runs on the day. Wasserman went yard in the second and fourth innings. DeBoer went deep in the third inning.

Fairbury Sr. Legion Baseball Team collected 13 hits. Holes, DeBoer, Pfingsten, Wasserman, and Tanner Novotny each managed multiple hits for Fairbury Sr. Legion Baseball Team. Holes went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Fairbury Sr. Legion Baseball Team in hits.

The Fairbury Junior bats were hot as well as Fairbury Jr. Legion Baseball Team defeated York Cornerstone JV 7-6 on Friday.

Fairbury Jr. Legion Baseball Team pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning. In the third Billy Humphrey singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Andrew Novotny pitched Fairbury Jr. Legion Baseball Team to victory. He lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing one hit and two runs while striking out one and walking one. Austin Novotny threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Chase Collingham took the loss for York Cornerstone JV. He lasted one-third of an inning, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out one and walking one.

Tyler Wright started the game for York Cornerstone JV. He allowed four hits and five runs over two and a third innings, striking out two Joe Melcher started the game for Fairbury Jr. Legion Baseball Team. He lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out two

Dana Hobbs went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead York Cornerstone JV in hits. York Cornerstone JV was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Ty Schneider had the most chances in the field with six.
