BEATRICE – Local police made an arrest Friday after conducting narcotics surveillance on a male known to possess and deal in illegal narcotics. Officers observed the man go into a residence at 1805 Market and had received information he may be in possession of a handgun.
The surveillance was conducted at approximately two-thirty p.m., by Beatrice Police Officers.
A search warrant was obtained for the home. A Beatrice SWAT unit entered the residence at about five p.m. As they entered, police observed the male sitting next to a handgun. Lieutenant Jay Murphy…

Authorities seized a model 1911 handgun, a safe which was storing an empty handgun magazine, a needle with a liquid substance that tested positive for methamphetamine and some cash.
36-year-old Jason Sanchez, of Beatrice, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of a controlled substance, distribution of a controlled substance, and possession of drug money.
One other person, the renter of the home, was there at the time of the arrest, but was not detained by police.
