Wanted Man Flees From Authorities, Found in Columbus Shed

COLUMBUS – A man wanted for multiple felony charges, was arrested after allegedly stealing alcohol, running from authorities, and hiding in a Columbus resident’s shed.

Columbus Police Captain Todd Thalken says they received a report of a man shoplifting alcohol from a gas station on Howard Boulevard in west Columbus, at approximately 3:40 a.m. on Saturday. Authorities say the received a description of the man’s vehicle, and a Platte County Deputy later spotted the vehicle, says Thalken.

Reports say the Deputy then initiated a foot pursuit with the man, and eventually found him hiding in a shed near 16th Street and 28th Avenue.

Anthony Morabito, 32, of Newman Grove, was cited with obstructing a peace officer and shoplifting. Morabito was also wanted in Madison County on multiple felony charges, including two for driving while revoked for DUI and failing to appear in court while out on bail, says court records.
