The $85,000 project cost is being shared by several entities. The City of Beatrice will contribute $25,000, while the Beatrice Girls Softball Association is contributing $20,000 and Youth Recreation Incorporated, $5,000. Some of the labor will be handled by the softball association and YRI.
The City of Beatrice is also undertaking the construction of an indoor batting facility, at the east Beatrice park. Eventually, a new trail section will also connect with Hannibal.
The balance in the Visitors Improvement Fund totals over $220,000.
