BEATRICE – Gage County Sheriff’s officers have released information on a Christmas night accident, where a car left the highway north of Beatrice and struck a house.

The incident happened on U.S. Highway 77, just north of the intersection with Aspen Road, about a mile south of Cortland.

A northbound 2012 Cadillac driven by 33-year-old Derek Parrott, of Omaha, left the highway into the east ditch.  The car continued north across private property, then toward a residence, hitting trees and shrubs and smashing into the south wall of the home.sp-48-91674

Parrott was taken by Lincoln Fire officials to Bryan LGH West, for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening.  There was no immediate information on whether anyone in the home was injured.

Parrott was using a seatbelt and the vehicle’s airbags deployed. Law officers say neither drugs nor alcohol were suspected in the wreck, which happened at about 10:45 p.m. Christmas night.

The driver was ticketed for failure to maintain lane.
