BEATRICE – Gage County Sheriff’s officers have released information on a Christmas night accident, where a car left the highway north of Beatrice and struck a house.
The incident happened on U.S. Highway 77, just north of the intersection with Aspen Road, about a mile south of Cortland.
A northbound 2012 Cadillac driven by 33-year-old Derek Parrott, of Omaha, left the highway into the east ditch. The car continued north across private property, then toward a residence, hitting trees and shrubs and smashing into the south wall of the home.
Parrott was taken by Lincoln Fire officials to Bryan LGH West, for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening. There was no immediate information on whether anyone in the home was injured.
Parrott was using a seatbelt and the vehicle’s airbags deployed. Law officers say neither drugs nor alcohol were suspected in the wreck, which happened at about 10:45 p.m. Christmas night.
The driver was ticketed for failure to maintain lane.
