UPDATE: One Pronounced Dead After Accident Near Fairbury

FAIRBURY – A 20-year-old female from Hebron was pronounced dead at the scene of a late afternoon accident on Highway 136 between Gilead and Fairbury.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Samantha R. Hoffman was driving a 1999 Dodge Sport Van east bound on 136 before crossing the center line and striking a semi truck and trailer driven by Fritz K. Tridle, 61, of Ogallala.

The van struck the truck ‘s left front corner and received massive damage. Hoffman was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt.

Tridle was uninjured in the accident.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Fairbury City and Rural Fire, Jefferson County Rescue, Nebraska State Patrol and Nebraska Game and Parks all responded to the scene.
