UNL Chancellor Looks Forward To Fall

Beatrice–The Chancellor of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln says he is excited for the start of the fall semester which begins next month. Chancellor Ronnie Green says U-N-L is expecting  a record enrollment this fall as students from both in-state and out-of-state choose the University to further their education…

This summer the Chancellor has had to deal with budget cuts which involve the elimination of a couple of programs and several faculty positions. Green says its always a tough decision when budgets need to be cut…

Budget cuts totaled 2.9 million dollars and involved the elimination of two academic programs and 18 staff positions.

Green says U-N-L continues to keep its facilities up to date. Green says last fall an 84-million dollar College of Business building opened on the Lincoln campus. This year, there are plenty of construction projects that are planned or underway at the University…..

Also, this year renovation work is being done on the former Nebraska Bookstore and on the East Campus Library Center.

With the start of the fall semester comes the fall sports season. Green says he is excited about what the new school year has to offer in regards to athletics…..
