Tractor Accident Fatality Reported, East of Beatrice

BEATRICE – Beatrice Communications has confirmed an accident took the life of a man last night, east of the city.

A male victim was pinned by a tractor he had been operating.

A medical helicopter was summoned to the scene, but called off a few minutes later.  Gage County Sheriff’s officers identified the victim as 54-year-old Ernest Kubr, of Filley.

Deputies say Kubr was operating a tractor moving a dirt pile, lost control of the machine and it rolled down a hill, pinning him.

Beatrice Fire and Rescue EMS personnel and Beatrice Rural Fire were dispatched to the scene along East Juniper Road, at about 7:46 p-m.

First responders attempted life-saving measures but Kubr was pronounced dead at the scene.  He was alone at the time and he was found by his fiancée.

Gage County Coroner Roger Harris went to the scene, but no autopsy was ordered.  Harris said the victim was operating a Ford tractor with a bucket, moving dirt on a sloped area.
