Tire Recycling Event Set for Mid-August, in Beatrice

BEATRICE – Beatrice and Gage County will host another tire recycling event this summer.

Administrator of Keep Beatrice Beautiful, Linda Grell announced today that a grant has been received for up to $32,100, which will allow collection of up to 375 tons of used tires.  They are hauled away and recycled.  The money comes from the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality Scrap Tire program.

Keep Beatrice Beautiful and the Gage County Extension Office collaborate to run the collection effort, which allows residents of the county to drop off old tires at a site next to the Gage County Fairgrounds.

The tire collection will be August 15th and 16th.   Champlin Tire of Concordia, Kansas…which submitted the low bid… will do the hauling of the tires.

The recycling event is for Gage County residents, only.  Grell says persons have to give a tire count when they bring their scrap tires in.  She says the recycling collection is probably the largest of its kind, in Nebraska.
