Tennessee Woman Killed in Clay County Collision

BEATRICE – A Tennessee woman was killed in a three-vehicle accident in Clay County, Kansas, Wednesday.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports 62-year-old Audrey Kalivoda of Fairview, Tennessee was driving a Pontiac Montana minivan south on Frontier Road and failed to stop at a stop sign at a U.S. Highway 24 junction.

A semi-trailer truck eastbound driven by 50-year-old Michael Broeckelman, of Beloit, Kansas, struck the minivan, pushing it into another car traveling west on U.S. 24.

Kalivoda was killed in the accident.  Broeckelman sustained a possible injury.  The driver of the westbound car, 24-year-old Lane Koster, of Jewell, was not injured.

The KHP reports all three drivers were using safety restraints.

The accident happened at 6:45 Wednesday morning, west of Clay Center.
