TECUMSEH – A staff member at Tecumseh prison was arrested for suspected illegal communication with a prisoner.

21-year-old Sarah Murillo was arrested Friday morning for unauthorized communications with a prisoner. The Nebraska State Patrol is still investigating the incident.

Murillo, who was officially put on leave, has worked at Tecumseh prison since July of last year.

She has yet to be formally charged for any crimes.

While no specifics were given, prison director Scott Frakes says prison workers need to keep their boundaries with inmates.

“The introduction of contraband can lead to a variety of security breaches and will not be tolerated. Maintaining appropriate boundaries is a key component to safety and security, says Frakes.

Last week, Tecumseh prisoner Daelan Lamere died with meth and ecstasy in his system. A few days later, inmate Dillion Martin attempted to escape by dispersing a powder in the air inside his transport van, following a court appearance. The escape was quickly stopped.
