Tecumseh Inmate Charged With Arson

TECUMSEH – An inmate serving an eight-year sentence out of Gage County has been charged with arson in connection with the March 2 uprising at the Tecumseh State Corrections Institute.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled June 21 at the Johnson County Court for 26-year-old Eric Ramos, who began his sentence in 2013 on convictions of domestic assault, criminal mischief and possession of a deadly weapon.

Corrections officials report about 40 inmates were involved in the March 2 incident, where security teams entered a housing unit and put out several small fires. At that time, 20 to 30 inmates were still outside in a fenced mini-yard where there was a bonfire.
