Suspected Getaway Car Driver in Beatrice Robbery, Arrested in Lincoln
Zachary Douglas

BEATRICE – Lincoln Police and a fugitive task force have arrested a man suspected to be the driver of a getaway car in a recent Beatrice convenience store robbery.

Lincoln Police Captain Danny Reitan says Zachary Douglas was arrested at around six-thirty this morning, near 32nd and “C” Street.   He says Douglas was arrested on a drug violation but also had a felony warrant for his arrest from Gage County.

That warrant charges Douglas with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and aiding and abetting a crime.  He is in custody in Lancaster County.

Beatrice Police Chief Bruce Lang confirms Douglas is the suspect police were looking for, in the midnight armed robbery last week, of the Git N Split Convenience store.

Earlier, Jonathan Klein was arrested following a two-state pursuit and is being held on suspicion of robbery, use of a weapon to commit a felony, possession of a weapon during commission of a felony, willful reckless driving and driving on a suspended license.

Klein and a passenger in his vehicle were arrested along the Nebraska-Kansas State Line south of Pawnee City, in a pursuit that involved both Nebraska and Kansas authorities.

The convenience store was robbed by a man brandishing a shotgun.  No one was injured. The suspect left with a small amount of money.
