BEATRICE – A man who crashed a black SUV into a downtown Beatrice insurance building last week, is now in custody.
Both Beatrice Police Chief Bruce Lang and Gage County Sheriff Millard “Gus” Gustafson confirmed this morning that 32-year-old Brandon Kopf was arrested in the Falls City area, this morning, by members of the Metro Area Fugitive Task Force.
Beatrice Police Lieutenant Mike Oliver says the arrest was made after 8 a.m. Monday, near Falls City.

Oliver says no one else was arrested. Kopf’s arrest Monday morning reportedly was made on a pending warrant against him, from Lancaster County.

Authorities had been searching for Kopf since last Tuesday night, when he allegedly fled on foot following a pursuit by a Gage County Sheriff’s officer from west Beatrice through the downtown area. The GMC, driven by Kopf at a high rate of speed, smashed into a downtown insurance building owned by Tom Cass Insurance after attempting to turn north at 8th and Court Streets.
Kopf is facing local allegations of fleeing to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, violating a traffic control signal, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and driving while suspended or revoked.
Oliver says the arrest of Kopf was without incident, and he was not armed.
