Supervisors Approve Purchase of Two New Vehicles for Sheriff’s Department

COLUMBUS – Board Supervisors approved the purchase of two new patrol vehicles for the Platte County Sheriff’s department.

The two vehicles consist of a 2017 dodge Ram Pickup at $27,833 and a 2017 Dodge Charger at $22,189. PC Sheriff Ed Wemhoff says the cost of the vehicles was lower, because they were waiting to get the vehicles outfitted with the emergency equipment.

In the past, Wemhoff says they have had to get the vehicles outfitted with equipment both from the dealership after they bought it and at a later date from another outfitter.  Wemhoff says he was able to find a contractor who would do all the outfitting at one time at a better rate.

The county approved the purchase towards the contract for $6,000. The vehicles were $5,972 cheaper, because they did not have the vehicles initially outfitted with equipment after purchasing from the dealer.  The contract is a year long, and includes any repairs that need to be done to the Platte County Sheriff’s fleet of vehicles.
