The Lady Orange basketball team made a state tournament appearance this year, knocking off the top seed in the tournament and reaching the semifinals.

Also honored before the board was Dr. Joan Christen, as employee of the month.  She is a Beatrice High School Science teacher, who was credited by a parent who nominated her, with inspiring and preparing students for post-secondary education.

Christen leads a Science Club as well as a greenhouse program at the high school and has written grants to help obtain support for other projects at the school.  She holds a Doctorate in Entomology, from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
