Strong Thunderstorms Cause Some Damage

BEATRICE – Weather spotters reported a small tornado a mile northwest of Lyons, in Burt County, overnight.  The reported tornado was observed under a rapidly rotating wall cloud.  Some damage to a small shed in the area, was reported.

Storm damage was also recorded in Marshall County, Kansas from thunderstorm winds late yesterday afternoon and evening.

A grain storage bin reportedly buckled at a local elevator in Waterville, Kansas and the tin on the roof of a shed nearby, was blown off.  Some power lines were reported to be down, in the community.  Several trees and large tree branches were brought down in the storm, in Waterville.

In Nebraska, a 76 mile-per-hour wind gust was recorded about five miles south of Pilger, in Stanton County.  Observers also reported that a tin roof was blown off a building in Fremont, in Dodge County.

Heavy rain was reported in Douglas County, including Omaha, with amounts of between two and two-and-a-half inches.
