Sterling, Nebraska Woman Killed in Kansas Motorcycle Accident

BEATRICE – A Sterling, Nebraska woman was killed in a motorcycle accident Saturday, in Marshall County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol identifies the victim as 50-year-old Diane Thompson, a passenger on a Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by 47-year-old Cameron Dodds, of Washington, Kansas.

Patrol officials say the motorcycle was eastbound on Kansas Highway 9 in Frankfort, Kansas…when it went across the westbound lane and into the north ditch, flipping over several times.

Thompson died at the scene of the 1:48 p.m. accident.  Dodds was taken to Bryan LGH West Medical Center in Lincoln.  His condition is unknown.  The K-H-P says neither rider was wearing a helmet.

Meanwhile, the Kansas Highway Patrol reports a collision between a semitrailer truck and bicyclist in Marshall County late Sunday night.   A bicycle ridden by 55-year-old Richard Kempfer, of Omaha was in the driving lane of U.S. Highway 36, at around 11:30 p.m., when the cyclist was struck by a westbound truck driven by 36-year-old Adam Wildman, of South Charleston, Ohio.

Kempfer was taken to Bryan LGH West Medical Center, in Lincoln.  His condition is not known.

The truck driver was not injured.  Following the collision, the K-H-P says the truck went into the north ditch, jackknifed and came to rest.

The accident happened three miles west of Marysville.
