State Patrol Arrest for Alleged Drugged Driving

BEATRICE – A Beatrice man was arrested Thanksgiving night for allegedly driving under the influence of drugs, and possession of a controlled substance.

Allen Reed’s arrest came after a Nebraska State Patrol officer stopped the car he was driving, because he observed the vehicle had no license plate.   The Mercury Cougar was westbound on Court from 3rd and Court at around 9:14 p.m.

After conducting the stop, the driver allegedly handed the trooper a cup with liquid in it, a pipe and a small amount of marijuana.   A subsequent search of the car turned up suspected methamphetamine.   The trooper said in a court affidavit that Reed failed field sobriety tests.

Reed appeared in Gage County Court Monday, where his appearance bond was set at $5,000.
