COLUMBUS – If you were looking for good pool play this weekend, then Ag Park was the place to be.
The Annual Eagles State Pool Tournament was held in Columbus for the first time since 2015, and was used to raise money for Breast Cancer and Autism Research.
Nebraska State Eagles Secretary Dennis Micek says 124 teams competed in the 3-day event.
“Well mother nature didn’t cooperate too much, but every team showed up and the atmosphere has just been one of giving. We’ve had 50/50’s, raffles, you name it,” says Micek.
International Grandworthy President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Tom McGrath also made the trip to Columbus, from Florida, to help support this year’s event. McGrath said although he headed directly into colder temperatures, the environment in Columbus was one he was glad he didn’t miss.
“Well I was fore warned that when I come to Columbus I’d better get ready for a real great weekend of pool, and this has certainly been it. This team from Columbus that put this together, it’s been exceptional. Along with the fundraising for both the local and international charities of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, it’s just been fabulous,” says McGrath.
To participate in the annual tournament, you must be a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
