BEATRICE – Racing teams will descend on Beatrice this week, as a popular local dirt track event gets underway…. the Spring Nationals at Beatrice Speedway.

Lisa Wiegand is Gage County Tourism Director and Treasurer for the Gage County Fairboard. She says the annual event could draw competitors from twenty different states and four Canadian provinces. That means all hotel rooms booked, and lots of campers coming into the area.

Wiegand says Thursday night will feature a Race of Champions at the speedway, featuring twelve years of past modified racing champions……

Friday and Saturday, there’ll be racing of modifieds, sport-mods, stock cars and hobby stocks. Gates open Friday at 4:30 p.m., with racing getting underway at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, pit gates open at 1:30 p.m., with racing starting at 5:00 p.m.
This year, $10,000 has been added to the total purse. Modified drivers will be competing for a $2,500 first place prize, each night.
Pit passes for Thursday night are $10, and for Friday and Saturday, $30.
Grandstand admission both Friday and Saturday is $15 for adults, $5 for kids age ten and under.
