BEATRICE – After years of using the same logo and images, Southeast Community College officials are trying to establish a new brand, to go along with the school’s push toward upgrading facilities and programs.
SCC is working with Firespring, a Midwest marketing and creative firm.
College Administrator of Public Information and Marketing, Stu Osterthun, says the proposed new branding of the college has been backed by months of surveying and input from throughout the college. That helped put together a set of key values the school wants to portray in its brand. One concept being emphasized is the term, “every person”.
:20 “our archetype”
Osterthun says the goal of the new brand is to connect a sense of belonging and community and connecting with others.
:10 “feel comfortable”
SCC Board members were shown three examples of a newly designed logo for the college, during a meeting at the Lincoln campus on Tuesday. Osterthun said one element of the logo is to demonstrate the action of moving forward.
:12 “it’s open”
:10 “hire our graduates”
The designs were not judged without some skepticism. Board member Steve Ottman wasn’t convinced by the new design.
:07 “come to know”
Osterthun says the goal is to complete the new branding by the end of this year, if possible. There is also the work to establish the new brand in Southeast Community College athletics.
:13 “end of January”
A Firespring creative consultant said the company would take the information provided by the board on Tuesday and examine any design adjustments that may be needed.
A branding manual, what’s described as a “playbook”, will be created for use of the new logo and tag line.
