Southeast Community College Examining “Irregularities” With College Funds

BEATRICE –  Southeast Community College officials say an investigation is being conducted of what the college says were some irregularities regarding the handling of certain college funds.

A college board member brought the issue to light Tuesday, asking about the status of the matter and referring to the Milford Campus.

A statement from SCC Vice President of Public Information, Stu Osterthun released Tuesday indicated the college reviewed financial transactions that took place in mid-to-late October of 2016, which disclosed some irregularities.   The amount of funds has not been disclosed.

SCC states that after conducting a supplemental examination of transactions, “appropriate action has been taken with regard to college personnel involved, and an internal investigation has been initiated”.

Southeast Community College has retained Dana F. Cole and Company, an accounting firm, to assist in the investigation and the matter has been reported to the Nebraska State Patrol.

SCC officials were not commenting further at this time, on the matter.
