BEATRICE – Southeast Community College has set the guaranteed maximum prices that will be paid to build new residential halls on the Beatrice and Milford Campuses.
The SCC Board, meeting in Hebron Tuesday, set the maximum price on the Beatrice Campus project at just over $8.15 million, and the maximum price for Milford Campus residential construction at around $7.98 million.
College Legal Counsel, Rex Schultze said the amendment to March 20th agreements approved by the SCC Board, means the work will come in significantly below original estimates.

Sampson-Caspers Construction of Lincoln was chosen as the construction manager for the work on the two campuses. Schultze said all sixteen parts of the projects received bids from at least three subcontracting companies. Use of the construction manager-at risk method for the student residential halls was aimed at getting the best price, possible.
Sampson-Caspers was also chosen to be the manager for construction of a planned Dining Hall project on the Beatrice Campus. Cost of that work is yet to be finalized.
In other action Tuesday at the SCC Board meeting, officials approved a Professional Association Agreement for this coming year, which grants an overall 3.9% increase in compensation.
