COLUMBUS – The sheriff’s office responded to 8 accidents on Friday, with only one involving more than one vehicle.
The accidents ranged from minimal to upwards of $10,000 in damage. The uptick in accidents came the same day as a snowfall and flash freezing that caused roads to be slick for a portion of the day on Friday.
One of the accidents took place on 48th Avenue, over the noon hour, when a vehicle left the west-side of the roadway and landed upside down in a ditch. A woman, who was stuck in the vehicle for a period of time, was eventually able to escape the rear of the vehicle.
Sheriff’s reports say the woman was transferred to the hospital, but at the time of the accident, injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
The only two vehicle accident reported on Friday took place just after 6 p.m. and damage to both vehicles was reported to be relatively minor.
Temperatures are expected to warm up into the 70’s throughout the week, but the potential for morning snow returns again on Saturday.
