Severe storms possible during morning commute Thursday

NEBRASKA CITY – Atchison, Nodaway, Holt and Andrew Counties in northwest Missouri remain under a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 a.m. this morning (Thursday).

The National Weather Service placed the region in the watch around 1 a.m. this morning.

It includes the cities of Auburn, Beatrice, Falls City, Fairfax, Mound City, Nebraska City, Pawnee City, Rock Port, Sterling, Tarkio, Table Rock and Tecumseh.

The weather service says there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 a.m. Some storms could be severe, with large hail and damaging winds.

A strong thunderstorm system prompted severe thunderstorm warnings early today for Gage County, along with parts of Saline and Jefferson Counties.
