Semi Tractor Destroyed in Wymore Fire

BEATRICE – Wymore Firefighters were sent to an oil company parking lot late Tuesday night, where a semi-tractor on a grain-hauling truck, caught fire.

Authorities arriving on scene found the semi-tractor engulfed in flames…a fire in the engine bay.

Assistant Wymore Fire Chief Mark Meints says no one was inside the truck, which had been parked there at about eight p.m.  The fire was reported at around 11:50 and Wymore Fire trucks and personnel were on the way to the scene, just before midnight.  Meints says the cause of the blaze is believed to be an electrical problem, and the fire did an estimated $40,000 damage.

The tractor was destroyed, but officials were able to save a trailer, loaded with distillers grain.

The fire was extinguished, at about 12:30 a.m.  A Nebraska Fire Marshal investigator was summoned to the scene.  The fire was off the east side of U.S. Highway 77, across from a Dollar General Store in Wymore.
