Semi Damaged By Electrical Fire

NORFOLK – A semi suffered heavy damage after a fire in Norfolk on New Year’s Day.

Norfolk Fire Captain Lannce Grothe says it happened just before 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. Norfolk fire was sent to a report of a semi on fire on the 100-block of S. 1st Street.

Grothe says responders saw a lot of smoke, but no flames, coming from the cab of the semi.

The fire was brought under control after about five minutes. Overall, firefighters spent about 40 minutes on scene.

The fire, which Grothe says was electrical in nature, did over $20,000 worth of damage. No one was hurt.
