Second Full Time Crime Victims’ Advocate Being Added

BEATRICE – Increased federal funding is allowing the Beatrice Police Department to add a second full-time position to the city and county crime victims’ rights program.

Kerri McGrury serves as the full-time Victims’ Rights Coordinator, and has had part-time help.  Beatrice Police Chief Bruce Lang says the program has received federal grant support for several years.  The amount of money has increased.

Lang says the department has received several applications for the second full-time position, and interviews are beginning.  He says the hope is to hire someone in November.

This past year, McGrury was recognized as the top Crime Victim Assistance Coordinator in Nebraska.
