Search For Columbus Fire Chief Continues to Narrow
Columbus fire crews responded to a fire call during a storm last Tuesday

COLUMBUS – With current fire chief Dean Hefti retiring, the search for a new city fire chief is drawing closer to a conclusion.

The city council approved on Monday that the list a 3 potential candidates be approved for the position.  The three candidates are Aaron Andreson, Daniel Miller, and Joseph Grainger.

Mayor Jim Bulkley says, “We did have a great pool of candidates that came forward, and we did that initial interviewing and got it down to 3 that I feel are extremely qualified. We actually will be bringing them in later this week for the final interviews, and trying to wrap it up and make some decisions real shortly.”

An exact timeline for when the decision will be made has not yet been made, and Bulkley says the wage for the position will fit in the current city pay scale, but the exact wage has yet to be determined.
