Scouts Go for Fastest Times at Pinewood Derby

COLUMBUS –  Scouts of all levels made their way to CCC this weekend to put their pinewood derby cars to the test.

Scouts raced their cars in several heats Saturday, and Bear Scout Gett Dunn says his red wedge model car had a solid day on the track, but says in addition to racing, they enjoyed several other activities, including how to make “armpit fudge”.

“So you add a bunch of ingredients together, put them in a bag and you mush it up with your armpit,” says Gett.

Bear Scouts Kellan Mundil says he had a fun day racing his wedge model derby car on Saturday, and says scouts has allowed him to do a lot of fun activities he might not normally have done.

“We have a book and we’re supposed to do all of the things [inside it], like I drew the [local fish] habitat of what they eat and the local fish,” says Mundil.

The event was held throughout the day in the Central Community College gym and attendees took various classes throughout the day, in addition to racing their derby cars.
