BEATRICE – A drug trial scheduled to begin today in Gage County District Court, is off.
The Gage County Attorney’s office has dismissed charges against 58-year-old Thomas Sailors, Sr., of Blue Springs.
Chief Deputy Gage County Attorney Amanda Spracklen-Hogan filed a motion to dismiss charges, saying the state has discovered new information and will be pursuing alternative charges.
Sailors had been accused of distribution of a controlled substance and conspiracy to distribute illegal drugs. His arrest and the initial charges stemmed from an investigation by Gage County authorities into distribution of methamphetamine involving several people who’ve been formally charged.
The investigation included monitoring of calls between two of the defendants that were made from the Gage County jail, allegedly discussing drug distribution and the profits from that distribution.
