Santa Visits Columbus on Small Business Saturday

COLUMBUS – Local residents got the chance to enjoy the biggest shopping weekend of the year in downtown Columbus, with a special visit from Kris Kringle.

Santa Claus made his first of many trips to Frankfort Square on Saturday, where local kids got the chance to take a picture, and tell santa what they wanted for Christmas.

Columbus Area Chamber’s Sandie Fischer, says combining Small Business Saturday and Santa’s first visit to town, makes for a great weekend.

Fischer says, “Small business Saturday was started by American Express. So we jumped on that bandwagon, because we have so many small businesses in Columbus that are ma and pa businesses. So it was a great opportunity to help support them.”

Fischer also says, if local kids would like to write a letter to santa, they can drop it off at the mailbox in Frankfort Square, and says every letter will receive a response.

Earlier in the day Saturday, residents could buy Columbus Bucks at a special promotional rate, and then could receive a special discount at local stores that were chamber members.
