BEATRICE – Snow may have missed the Beatrice area entirely, but some locations not far away in Saline County got a healthy dose of it.

B.J. Fictum of Saline Weather Services reports around four-point-five inches of snow or slightly more, fell at Friend and Dorchester,  by early Sunday afternoon.  Weather observers recorded 3.5 inches of snow in Wilber, and about 3.7 four miles west of town.

Reports later Sunday from the fire chief in Friend, indicated 6.75 inches of snow….and from the fire chief in Dorchester,…5.7 inches.  The snow total at Wilber by late afternoon had reached 4.2 inches.   A public report was received from two miles northeast of Tobias, indicating a total snowfall of 6.8 inches.

Fictum said at 4:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon, Norris Public Power District reported 257 customers were without electricity…mostly in rural areas around Crete and Dorchester.

The wet snow coated power lines and trees that haven’t lost their leaves, this season.
