Rooted in Relationships program to offer parenting series at Central Elementary

FAIRBURY – Starting next Monday, the Rooted in Relationships Program partnered with Public Health Solutions will be offering a free parenting series in Fairbury called “Positive Solutions for Families.”

The session will be held at Central Elementary School, starting Oct. 22. Registration remains open until this Friday.

Rooted in Relationships Program Coordinator Megan Garcia says the six-session parenting series will focus predominantly on how to promote a child’s social and emotional skills.

“It’s meant to kind of just give some information to families about promoting their children’s’ social and emotional skills,” Garcia said. “Helping them kind of use some positive approaches and strategies to help with problem behaviors and things like that.”

The sessions are Oct. 22, 29 and every Monday in November.

This is the second year that Rooted in Relationships has offered this series in Fairbury. Positive Solutions for Families is part of Rooted in Relationships’ “Parent Pyramid Model” series.

After strong feedback from last year’s session, Garcia looks forward to another well-attended series this fall.

“We had I think about 12 parents who went through the class and completed it,” Garcia said. “It went over really well, so we’re really trying to offer that to the community again.”

Those interested in signing up are encouraged to contact Central Elementary for more information.
