COLUMBUS – The areas roads are slick Tuesday morning and drivers are urged to be cautious while making their morning commute.

The Nebraska Department of Roads shows a majority of the highways around Columbus are partially covered in ice, with Highways east towards Fremont and South towards Seward becoming very slick, and completely covered in ice. Roads and sidewalks within city limits are also slick, as crews work around town to deal with the ice.

A winter weather advisory will remain in effect for the area until 10  a.m. Tuesday. The National Weather Service says the cold air moving in from the northwest could continue to make any untreated sidewalks and roads very slick.
