Ramada Burglar to be Sentenced on Theft and Burglary Charges in April

COLUMBUS, Neb. – A David City man convicted of theft, burglary and drug possession in two separate cases will be sentenced in Platte County District court next month.

Records say 32-year-old Johnathan Mally attempted a burglary at the Ramada in Columbus when police caught him in the act and arrested him after a short chase. A pry bar was also found inside the hotel, according to police.

Police say they then found stolen auto parts on his truck, located nearby, and were able to connect Mally to a theft of a stolen 2016 Chevy Silverado in Lincoln.

CPD says they also found stolen items from incidents in other counties inside his truck, along with nearly four grams of meth.

Mally was convicted of theft, burglary, possession of meth and possession of burglar tools, all felonies. Habitual criminal charges were dropped in plea deals.

He will be sentenced on April 20th.

A previous version of the story incorrectly stated the amount of meth listed in the police affidavit.
