Quilts of Valor Presented by Beatrice Middle School Students

BEATRICE – One generation honored another on Monday, at the Kensington Retirement Center in downtown Beatrice.

Beatrice Middle School Students presented Quilts of Valor to three local veterans, who are also participants in a foster grandparent relationship with the middle school students.

The Quilts of Valor project locally has Beatrice Middle School students piecing together the fabric sections provided by Quilt Stitches, a local business.  Also partnering in the project is Gage County Four-H.

The three veterans received their quilts honoring them for their service and dedication, during a ceremony held at the Kensington Ballroom.

Students and others were able to personally thank Ivel Carpenter, Marlin Cullison and Dennis Prebyl, after the ceremony.

For 23 years. the Beatrice Middle School has been adopting residents of the Kensington as foster grandparents, promoting an ongoing relationship between the students and residents of the retirement center.
