Problem Discovered at Site of Downtown Beatrice Demolition Site

BEATRICE – A problem has cropped up at the site of a downtown building recently demolished after its’ roof collapsed more than two years ago.

Officials have discovered foundation issues where the building at 407 Court street was taken down.  Beatrice Mayor Stan Wirth says there is concern about the foundation on both sides.

Wirth says some repairs will need to be made to the walls in the basement area.

Wirth says the city expects the work cost less than $15,000, which might cause some heartburn on the city council, where past concern was expressed about the overall expense of the project.

Barricades remain in place in front of the space where the building was demolished.
