Prison Term Pronounced for Drug Court Absconder

BEATRICE – A woman who entered the Southeast Nebraska Drug Court program, but absconded after an initial appearance, is going to prison.

Heather Lucas was sentenced in Gage County District Court Wednesday, to concurrent terms of 20-to-60 months in prison, for conviction on two counts of drug possession.

Judge Paul Korslund says Lucas’ addiction to drugs is at the root of her problems, but said the defendant’s own behaviors helped produced the situation she’s in.
