Prison Ordered After Medicine Stolen From Beneath Falls City Man’s Bed

FALLS CITY – District Judge Julie Smith sentenced a Fairbury man to 18 months in prison and a Falls City woman to probation after a Falls City man reported that a lock box with his prescription medicine was stolen from beneath his bed.

Neil Russell told Falls City police he noticed the box missing while a painting crew was working on his house in April of 2016.

Court records say investigators were told that Brandon Whorton, 30, was trying to sell pills and asking for help to go back to the residence and get more medicine.

He was convicted of possession of oxycodone after a burglary charged was dropped.

Jessica Sweetwater, 21, was sentenced to 20 months probation for attempted possession of oxycodone on Nov. 1, 2016.

A charge of theft from Neil Russell was dismissed.

Judge Smith also sentenced Drue Miller, 30, of Falls City to 20 months probation.

A Richardson County deputy reported finding over 2 grams of meth in Miller’s vehicle after a traffic stop on Christmas Eve in 2016.
