BEATRICE – A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for a Beatrice man charged with attempted murder.
33-year-old Nathan King is charged in the shooting of Boston Bieler, at a rural Beatrice home, last March 11th.
King appeared with his attorney in Gage County Court Friday, where Judge Steven Timm set a preliminary hearing for May 15th. King is charged with attempted second-degree murder, use of a firearm to commit a felony, second-degree assault and making a terroristic threat. He previously posted a percentage of his bond and is no longer in custody.
Bieler, of Beatrice was found lying on the front porch of a South Sumner Street home, early Sunday March 11th, where Gage County Sheriff’s Officers and Beatrice Police had been sent.
Bieler had been shot in the back of the neck and was taken by Beatrice Fire and Rescue to a Lincoln hospital.
Prosecutors allege King had gotten into an argument with Bieler on the front porch of the home. Investigators say King is believed to have threatened Bieler with a handgun. Authorities say King went back into his residence, allegedly firing one shot from a handgun through the front door. The bullet traveled through a window in the door and struck Bieler.
