Preliminary Hearing Set For Man Facing First-Degree Sexual Assault Counts

BEATRICE – A preliminary hearing is set for August 10th, for a Beatrice man charged in the sexual assault of a 13-year-old female who was a runaway.

23-year-old Marshall Oden is charged with two counts of 1st-degree sexual assault.   His appearance bond was reduced in Gage County Court Monday, from $75,000, to $50,000.   A bond provision remains in place that he have no contact  with anyone under age 18, unless another adult is present.

In an unrelated case, bond is set at $7,500 for a 25-year-old male found slumped over the wheel of a vehicle over the weekend, near a grain elevator in Ellis.
Authorities recovered a pipe with suspected methamphetamine residue from the vehicle occupied by Jordan Ward.

Ward was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Gage County Court records indicate Ward has past convictions for possession of narcotics, from June and September of 2016 and February of 2014.
He faces further hearing, August 14th.
