SHANGHAI, CHINA – A trade trip to China has landed an extended contract for a Chapman, Nebraska Company, for the sale of Nebraska-based popcorn.
Governor Pete Ricketts announced the deal between Preferred Popcorn and Zhong Liang Tian Run Trading, Inc.

The contract means ZLTR will purchase millions of pounds of popcorn and will keep China one of the largest foreign markets among 70 countries Preferred Popcorn has, as customers.
Preferred Popcorn CEO Norm Krug says the trade trip has been an opportunity to demonstrate to a critical overseas market that Nebraska is open for business. He says China is a huge market for Nebraska corn, popcorn, soybeans, wheat, distiller’s grains and other agricultural products.
Preferred Popcorn has imported bulk popcorn into Chinese Theatres and ready-to-eat popcorn producers for over five years.
Governor Ricketts says the trade trip has also focused partly on a demonstration farm in China, where Nebraska manufacturers of irrigation equipment, have pivots.

Ricketts says the farm gives Nebraska agriculture technology manufacturers more access to Chinese agriculture producers looking to make their operations more productive.
